(November 19, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close three lanes of the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) bridges at Suitland Parkway tonight for bridge repairs in Upper Marlboro, Prince George’s County.

Starting at 10 p.m., crews will close three lanes on the Inner Loop of I-95/I-495 from Exit 11, MD 4  (Pennsylvania Avenue), to Exit 9, Forestville Road. One through lane will be maintained during the overnight work. The lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, November 20.

Currently, traffic is split with two lanes to the left and two to the right on the I-95/I-495 Inner Loop as crews work in the center lanes. After tonight’s traffic switch, all four lanes of traffic will be on the left so that the final stages of the bridge construction can begin in the right lanes.

This work is necessary as part of the $36 million I-95/I-495 over Suitland Parkway bridge replacement project, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2021. For more information, visit the Project Portal site.
