(November 6, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) began installing a retention pond along the eastbound side of the MD 140 (East Main Street) bridge over Flat Run Creek in Emmitsburg today.
To complete this work, crews are conducting a flagging operation at the bridge, which is between Silo Hill Road and Creamery Road. This will continue weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through the project’s expected completion in December. During these times, crews will also be working on a sidewalk ramp at MD 140 and Silo Hill Road that will require a lane shift.
This is part of a $5.3 million project to replace the MD 140 bridge and construct a new sidewalk between North Avenue and Silo Hill Road. Learn more about the project HERE.
MDOT SHA’s contractor, Milani Construction, LLC of Washington, DC, will use signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists and navigate them through the work zone.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
