(November 2, 2020) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin paving MD 27 (Ridge Road) between Gillis Falls Road and Harrisville Road in Mt. Airy Tuesday night, November 3, at 8 p.m. The overnight work is expected to last one week, with crews working 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday morning.
Motorists should expect single lane closures and a flagging operation during overnight work hours.
The paving is part of a $3.3 million project to realign the intersection and enhance safety. The project includes new left-turn and deceleration lanes on MD 27 along with wider shoulders. MDOT SHA started this project in spring 2019 and expects completion this fall, weather permitting. Learn more about the project

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
