​(October 19, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) begins a resurfacing project today on US 29 (Colesville Road/Columbia Pike) from Stewart Lane to MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) in Silver Spring.

Motorists should expect closures in both directions of US 29 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Weather permitting, this section of resurfacing should be complete by the end of the year.
The work is part of the $5.7 million US 29 safety and resurfacing project between St. Andrews Way and Stewart Lane. Crews will return next year to complete resurfacing from MD 650 to St. Andrews Way. Additional lane closures and work times may be needed to expedite this phase of work and keep the project on schedule. Equipment used for construction may be disruptive. Electronic message boards will alert the public of the upcoming work and to changing traffic patterns in the work zone.
