(August 28, 2020) – Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) will begin a preventative maintenance project on a section of MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) in the Garrison area of Baltimore County on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
BGE contractors will work on northbound Reisterstown Road at Harden Avenue on a 24-hour / 7-day a week schedule for approximately 90 days. BGE will host a virtual open house about the project on Monday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. To register to attend the BGE virtual open house, click

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has permitted BGE to shift lanes on northbound Reisterstown Road at Harden Avenue, just north of the MD 130 (Greenspring Valley Road) intersection. Business driveways and two lanes of traffic in each direction of Reisterstown Road will remain open during the maintenance work. Harden Avenue at Reisterstown Road will be closed and detoured for the duration of the project. The posted detour route uses Montrose Avenue, Turnlee Road and Greenspring Valley Road.
The work is part of BGE’s multi-year
Reisterstown Road Electric Reliability Upgrade program, which involves preventative maintenance on the electric cables beneath the roadway. BGE customers with questions or concerns about this project may contact the utility at 1-800-685-0123, or by email at
BGEProject@bge.com.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Slow down and be alert in construction zones to help ensure our team gets home safely to their families.

Editor’s Note
From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders. MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
