(August 28, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin pavement repairs along I-97 in Anne Arundel County on Sunday, August 30. Weather permitting, the work will be complete by the end of the year.
Starting at 9 p.m., MDOT SHA will begin reconstructing two concrete sections of I-97. Overnight lane shifts will be in effect. Crews will be working on I-97 southbound between MD 3 Business (Crain Highway) and Benfield Boulevard and I-97 northbound between MD 3 Business and MD 174 (Quarterfield Road).
MDOT SHA contractor M.D. Miller Company Inc. of Baltimore, will perform the work, which includes removing existing concrete, pouring and setting new concrete sections and adding new pavement markings.
Motorists can expect single lane closures weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Overnight double or triple lane closures and detours may be in effect Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
