I-695 sign
(April 29, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close two lanes of northbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Inner Loop) in Catonsville tonight for installation of structural steel girders for the new I-695 bridge over Ingleside Avenue.
MDOT SHA and its contractor, Tutor Perini Corporation of New Rochelle NY, will close multiple lanes on I-695 Inner Loop from Edmondson Avenue to US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) between 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, and 5 a.m. Thursday, April 30.
Lane Closure Schedule:
- I-695 Inner Loop: single left lane closure between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- I-695 Inner Loop: double left lane closure between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Ingleside Avenue under I-695: single lane traffic with flagging operations and temporary traffic stops as needed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, the temporary lane closures and steel girder placement will be delayed. This structural steel installation is associated with MDOT SHA’s $68 million project to widen southbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) between south of US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144 (Frederick Road), which includes replacement of the I-695 Inner and Outer Loop bridges over Edmondson Avenue.
The entire I-695 Southwest Outer Loop widening project is scheduled to be complete late summer 2021.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.
