BGE to Host Community Open House in Pikesville TONIGHT; Congestion Expected for Several Months
(February 6, 2019) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) advises travelers that
BGE will soon begin work on Reisterstown Road (MD 140) at Hooks Lane (just north of the I-695 interchange) as part of
BGE Electric Investments. BGE’s Reisterstown Road Electric Reliability Upgrade Project will begin February 11 and be complete in late-April, weather permitting.
BGE will begin underground electric utility work in the center of Reisterstown Road at Hooks Lane and will continue working 24 hours a day. BGE will close and detour the left-turn lane from southbound Reisterstown Road to eastbound Hooks Lane, and close one lane of northbound Reisterstown Road between the I-695 interchange and north of Hooks Lane. Approximately 55,000 vehicles travel on this section of MD 140 each day, so motorists should plan extra travel time.
MDOT SHA will assist BGE by providing the following detour route: Motorists traveling from southbound Reisterstown Road at Hooks Lane will be directed take the inner loop of I-695 eastbound) to MD 129 (Park Heights Avenue), where drivers will turn left onto Park Heights Avenue, and turn left onto Hooks Lane. MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will temporarily discontinue one bus stop in the work zone during construction; the stop is located on northbound MD 140 in front of the Exxon gas station.
BGE is hosting a community Open House on Wednesday, February 6 to acquaint area residents and businesses with the project and traffic impacts on Reisterstown Road. The open house will be held 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, 40 E. Sudbrook Lane, Pikesville MD 21208. The snow date for the open house is Saturday, February 9.
