Motorists Can Expect Weekday Single Lane Closures

(March 27, 2018) – Next week, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin resurfacing MD 194 (Woodsboro Pike) between MD 550 (Woodsboro Creagerstown Road) and the Carroll County line. The nearly 5.5-mile-long project will be complete by July.

Last resurfaced in 1996, crews will mill (remove the top layer of asphalt), pave and restripe MD 194. Guardrail repair and landscaping are also a part of the $2.3 million project.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Pleasant Paving of Frederick, will use flaggers and barrels to guide the nearly 24,000 vehicles through the work each day. Crews will work Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
