Today’s Forum Acquaints the P3 Community with the Project and Maryland P3 Laws

(Hanover, MD) – The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) today is holding an international industry forum at the BWI Airport Marriott to inform transportation professionals about Maryland’s transformational Traffic Relief Plan, which was unveiled mid-September. More than 350 transportation professionals are attending.

“Maryland is enlisting the private industry’s most innovative thinkers to deliver a ‘system of systems,’ designed to ease congestion for hundreds of thousands of drivers in the Baltimore and Washington regions every day,” said Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn.

The forum presentations include an overview of the $7.6 billion public-private partnership plan to add new express lanes to I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and I-270 in Montgomery and Frederick counties. Industry responses to the Request for Information for the projects are due December 20. To learn more about the Traffic Relief Plan, visit www.MDtrafficreliefP3.com.

Delivering on his commitment to provide innovative transportation solutions for Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan announced the transformative plans to relieve congestion for I-495 and I-270 as well as for the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD 295) on September 21. The plan will reduce congestion for millions of drivers and mark the beginning of a historic and transformative effort to significantly improve traffic conditions on some of Maryland’s most heavily traveled highways.
