Motorists Should Expect Daytime, Single Lane Closures and a Flagging Operation

(November 30, 2017) – Beginning December 4, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will resurface US 40 (National Pike) between MD 56 (Big Pool Road) and the town of Clear Spring in Washington County. The $300,000 project will be complete within two weeks.

MDOT SHAs contractor, P & W Excavating Inc. of Mcconnellsburg, PA, will mill, pave and restripe the pavement. Motorists will be guided through the work zone via a flagging operation. Work will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver need to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
