Overnight Travelers Should Expect Single and Double Lane Closures at Various Locations on I-70
(October 16, 2017) – Tonight, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will resurface seven bridge approaches to improve ride quality for thousands of motorists who use I-70 at various locations in Frederick County. The project will be complete late-fall.
MDOT SHAs contractor, Kline. LLC of Frederick, has been awarded the nearly $700,000 contract. Motorists can expect single and double lane closures Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Below is a list of locations that will be repaired. Each location will take approximately two nights to complete.
• Westbound I-70 at US 40 (exit 49);
• Westbound I-70 prior to I-270;
• Eastbound I-70 at the Bridge over Catoctin Creek;
• Eastbound I-70 at Harmony Road;
• Eastbound I-70 at Hollow Road;
• Eastbound I-70 at US 15;
• Eastbound I-70 at US 340; and
• Eastbound I-70 at the South Mountain Rest Area.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver need to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
