MDOT SHA Logo Crews Installing Guardrail in Carroll, Frederick and Howard Counties (October 4, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) continues to improve safety along Maryland roadways. MDOT SHA is beginning a $3.4 million project to upgrade existing and install new guardrail in several locations across Carroll, Howard and Frederick counties. Each corridor will take up to one month to complete. Crews will replace guardrail in the following locations: Carroll County • MD 140 (Taneytown Pike) between the Taneytown town limits and the Frederick County line; • MD 26 (Liberty Road) between MD 27 (Ridge Road) and MD 97 (Old Washington Road); and • MD 26 between Monroe Avenue and the Baltimore/Carroll County line. Frederick County • MD 194 (Woodsboro Pike) between Daysville Road and MD 26; and • MD 75 (Green Valley Road) between MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) the park and ride near I-70. Howard County • US 1 (Washington Boulevard) between Assateague Drive and Gatewood Way; and • US 1 between the Baltimore County line and Kit Kat Road. Motorists should expect daytime singe lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday nights until Friday mornings. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Guardrails Etc., Inc. of Baltimore, will use cones, barrels and flaggers to guide motorists through the work zones. MDOT SHA is completing the work through an area-wide contract. This approach allows engineers flexibility to address guardrail in several locations at the same time.
