Motorists Should Expect Overnight Lane Closures on Reisterstown Road Between Seven Mile Lane and Naylors Lane

(July 13, 2016) – To provide a smoother ride for thousands of motorists, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will repair damaged pavement on 1.5 miles of MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) in Pikesville beginning next week.  SHA’s contractor, Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium, will patch and restripe sections of pavement on Reisterstown Road from Seven Mile Lane (Baltimore City/County line) to Naylors Lane (south of the I-695 interchange) weeknights this summer. Weather permitting, the $250,000 highway maintenance project will be complete late summer.

Crews will close one lane Sundays through Thursdays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Approximately 34,000 vehicles use this section of Reisterstown Road each day, so drivers and transit bus riders should plan ahead for extra travel time during overnight highway maintenance work.  SHA and contractor crews will use barrels, dynamic message signs and arrow boards to guide motorists through the work zone in Pikesville. 

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
