Motorists Should Expect Night-time Single Lane Closures and Traffic Pattern Shifts During Pavement Patching Work

(June 24, 2016) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) recently started a $500,000 project to repair and patch deteriorated segments of pavement on nearly 3.5 miles of York Road (MD 45) between Padonia Road and Thornton Mill Road.  The maintenance project includes pavement grinding, patching and restriping.

On average, 27,000 vehicles use this section of York Road each day. To minimize traffic delays, crews will work at night, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.  SHA asks drivers to plan for extra travel time and look ahead for changing traffic patterns and single-lane closures on this section of York Road.

SHA’s contractor, Gray and Son, Inc., of Timonium, will use dynamic message signs, cones and barrels to safely guide drivers through the work zone.  For the latest real-time commuter information, log onto www.md511.org “Think Orange” in work zones, pay attention to road conditions and slow down.
