Drivers Should Be Alert for Crews and Daytime Lane Closures
(September 22, 2015) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) is improving several Upper Eastern Shore highway pavements as part of an $886,000 area-wide project. All pavement resurfacing should complete by late fall.
SHA is resurfacing:
SHA’s contractor, Slurry Pavers, Inc. of Chestertown, will use fog seal, a material used to extend the life of existing asphalt and slow pavement deterioration. Motorists should expect single-lane closures between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Motorists will be guided through the work zone by flaggers, cones and barrels.
In addition to this project, drivers may also encounter mobile or short-term work zones. Always expect the unexpected, pay extra close attention and drive slowly through any work zone. Whether it’s a tree trimming operation or a bridge project, be aware when orange is there: Think Orange (the color of construction equipment and signs), stay alert and slow down. Everyone is at risk.
