(October 2, 2008) –Starting this week, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface a section of MD 18A (Love Point Road) in Stevensville, Queen Anne’s County. Weather permitting, the $257,000 project will be complete by the end of next week.
SHA crews will patch and resurface three miles along MD 18A between MD 835C (Business Parkway) and the Love Point area of northern Kent Island. Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Variable message signs, temporary traffic signs, drums and flagpersons will guide motorists through the work zone.
The contract was awarded to David A. Bramble, Inc. of Chestertown. More than 600 people die every year in crashes in Maryland. These tragedies could be prevented if everyone practiced the five key measures: B- SAFE (Buckle up; Slow down – speeding kills; Always drive sober; Focus; Everyone shares the road – everyone gets home).
