Motorists Should Expect Daytime Delays during Construction

(October 22, 2008) –Next week, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin resurfacing nearly six miles along MD 313 (Goldsboro Road) in Barclay, Queen Anne’s County. Weather permitting, the $638,000 project will be complete by mid-November.

SHA crews will patch and resurface MD 313 between MD 302 (Barclay Road) and the Caroline County line. Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Variable message signs, temporary traffic signs, drums and flag persons will guide motorists through the work zone. The contract was awarded to David A. Bramble, Inc. of Chestertown.

Slow down and stay alert in construction work zones. More than 600 people die every year in crashes in Maryland. These tragedies could be prevented if everyone practiced the five key measures: B- SAFE (Buckle up; Slow down – speeding kills; Always drive sober; Focus; Everyone shares the road – everyone gets home).
