MDOT SHA Logo (June 19, 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will remove part of a rock outcrop that extends over the edge of MD 135 (Pratt Street) near NewPage Mill in Luke, Maryland next week. The work will require lane closures with a flagging operation between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, June 23, through Wednesday, June 25. Motorists should allow extra time or consider alternate routes during the work hours. Crews will use excavators to chip away at the rock outcrop, which is located near a sharp curve in the road and poses a hazard to large vehicles. While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone! # # #
