Drivers to be Guided through Local Detours for Two Days During Maintenance Work
(March 1, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will be performing brush overgrowth removal and litter cleanup operations on the westbound I-68 (National Freeway) ramp to MD 658 (Vocke Road) on March 4 and 5, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect ramp closures and detours on both days between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and vehicles will be detoured to US 40 Alternate (National Pike) during work. Motorists are asked to allow extra time for their commute.
The State Highway Administration will also perform the same work on MD 51 (Oldtown Road SE) between Pittsburgh Plate Glass Road and Malcom Road on March 4. Crews will be using a flagging operation during work hours Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. This maintenance project should be complete by the end of the month, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and driving patterns. Slow down and move over in construction zones, it’s the law.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
