New Driving Surface on Two-Lane Bridge Over I-70 Provides Safe, Efficient Travel for Motorists
(December 12, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has completed the $5.6 million rehabilitation of the MD 94 (Woodbine Road) bridge over I-70 in Lisbon, Howard County. The project, which began in spring 2022, included replacement of the two-lane bridge deck and repairs to bridge piers and abutments.

During the project, one lane was closed while two-way traffic operated in the remaining open lane, alternated by traffic signals at each end. Additionally, to protect I-70 drivers from construction debris, a temporary shield was installed under the MD 94 bridge. This past week, crews returned the bridge to two-way operations and removed the debris shield, restoring the full 17-foot vehicle height clearance on I-70.
The MD 94 bridge was originally constructed in 1971. This rehabilitation project is part of the State Highway Administration’s efforts to keep Maryland’s infrastructure in a state of good repair. Learn more about the project by clicking
