Overnight Operation will Close Section of Westbound I-70 at Exit 52 to Westbound US 340, Southbound US 15

(May 11, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will repair guardrail on westbound I-70 (exit 52) to westbound US 340 and southbound US 15 overnight Monday, May 15. The guardrail was recently damaged in a crash. The work will start at 10 p.m. Monday, and will be complete by 5 a.m. the next morning, Tuesday, May 16. During the work, all travel lanes will be closed on this section of westbound I-70 so crews can safely remove the damaged guardrail and install new traffic barrier pieces.

A detour will be in place (see map) directing westbound motorists to use the Exit 52 ramp, which merges with another ramp to continue onto westbound I-70. Travelers on northbound I-270 moving toward westbound I-70 will see their exit ramp go from two lanes to one travel lane.
