***TRAFFIC ALERT*** STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION CONTINUES OVERNIGHT WORK AT I-95/I-695 INTERCHANGE IN SOUTHWEST BALTIMORE COUNTY

​Work is Part of Ongoing Rehabilitation of Bridges; Ramp and Lane Closures Scheduled for April 30-May 5 

(April 27, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will implement overnight interchange ramp and lane closures Sunday night through Friday morning, April 30-May 5 within the I-95/I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) interchange in the Arbutus area of Baltimore County. All work is weather permitting.

The closures are required as part of the ongoing rehabilitation project for 10 bridges within the interchange. The project includes installation of new deck pavement surfaces and replacement of concrete traffic barriers and parapets. Learn more about the project here​. Beginning Sunday evening, April 30, motorists can expect the following:         

Overnight Interchange Ramp Closure

Ramp from nort​hbound I-95 to westbound I-695 (inner loop): The ramp will be closed and detoured overnights, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday, April 30, through Thursday, May 4. Motorists will be directed to stay on northbound I-95 past I-695 to the Caton Avenue interchange, go through the interchange to southbound I-95 back to westbound I-695 (inner loop).  ​

Overnight Lane Closures

Northbound and Sout​hbound I-95 at I-695: Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. and double left-lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday, April 30, through Thursday, May 4. ​

Daytime Lane Closure

Sulphur Spring Road under I-95: Motorists can expect daytime lane closures with temporary lane shifts ​or flagging operation to control two-way traffic between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 1-5.

The State Highway Administration understands the closures may inconvenience some travelers. Motorists are asked to please stay alert and be patient as they pass through the work zones. Crews will use digital message boards, temporary signs and barrels to direct drivers safely through the area. Contractor Wagman Heavy Civil Inc., of York, Pa., is performing the work.
