US 219 sign
Single-Lane Closures on US 219 near McHenry Required During Project
(April 12, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a pavement improvement project Thursday, April 13, on US 219 (Garrett Highway) between MD 42 (Friendsville Road) and Pysell Road. The work includes patching, milling, paving and adding new pavement markings.
Motorists can expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The work is expected to be complete by the end of May, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration contractor Keystone Lime Inc., of Springs, Pa., will use cones, signs and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone. Drivers are asked to slow down for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways. The State Highway Administration understands road work can be inconvenient, but the work is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system.
As the spring season arrives, drivers are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. Remember, motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Look twice and save a life.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
