Project will Improve I-68 Pavement Conditions in Frostburg
(April 3, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a $3.8 million project this week to enhance safety and improve pavement conditions along a one-mile stretch of eastbound I-68 in Frostburg.
During the project, various lane closures will be in effect in areas of the work zone from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, from a mile west of MD 546 to the Allegany County line. Crews will use barrels and cones to alert motorists of lane closures. The project improvements will include:
- patching, milling, paving and adding pavement markings;
- installing underdrains to improve highway drainage; and
- upgrading lighting and traffic barriers.
The project is expected to be complete by late winter 2023. Contractor Keystone Lime Company, of Springs, Pa., will perform the work.
