Office of Government Affairs
The Maryland Department of Transportation Office of Government Affairs (OGA) is SHA’s official liaison to the Governor's Office, the Maryland General Assembly (MGA), the U.S. Congress, federal and state agencies, and key stakeholders on all issues affecting our business.
Priorities of the OGA team include:
- Providing accurate and timely information on roadway issues to federal, state and local policymakers and their constituents.
- Evaluating and determining the impact of proposed legislation on Administration priorities.
- Drafting testimony for hearings on proposed legislation and highlighting potential impacts.
- Coordinating legislative visits of our facilities.
- Tracking federal and state legislative issues of interest as they move through the legislative process.
- Monitoring federal funding opportunities and coordinating with SHA staff on grant applications.
- Tracking the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) federal discretionary opportunities.
- Managing and drafting Statutory and Joint Chairman's Reports (JCR's) required by the Maryland General Assembly.
