Maryland Bridge Safety

photo of Maryland bridgeSecuring Maryland bridges is a leading concern at the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA). Check below for height, weight and underclearance restrictions, county by county. Here you can also track MDOT SHA’s progress addressing structurally deficient bridges. A list of movable bridges in Maryland can be accessed below.

"Poor" Rated Bridges

The “poor” condition rating is an early warning sign to initiate preservation or replacement activities.  MDOT SHA addresses all its bridges that are rated poor. That means we’re in the planning, design, advertising (for contractors) or construction phase of a project or are in the process of rehabilitation to bring the structure(s) into a state of good repair.
