(August 21, 2025) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin cleaning and painting the MD 165 (Federal Hill Road) bridge over Deer Creek and the MD 136 (Whiteford Road) bridge over Broad Creek in Harford County next week. The bridge work will be complete by early fall, weather permitting.

Beginning as soon as Monday, August 25, crews will clean and paint the MD 165 bridge. Work on the MD 136 bridge will begin on or after Wednesday, August 27. Motorists can expect single-lane closures with flagging operations at both bridges on weekdays Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. with overnight hours, Sunday through Thursday 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.

The $288,000 work on the MD 165 bridge and the MD 136 bridge is part of the State Highway Administration’s $2.8 million contract for cleaning and painting bridges on state highways within Baltimore and Harford Counties. Contractor Reglas Painting Co. of Dundalk will perform the work.

The State Highway Administration is Serious about Safety and asks drivers to slow down and move over, if possible, in work zones and pay extra attention to pedestrians and bicyclists. Keeping drivers, their passengers and vulnerable highway users safe is our top priority.
