​Expect Lane Closures from Owings Mills Boulevard to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) 

(April 23, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration was scheduled to work the weekend of April 25 to repair sections of damaged concrete pavement on two of three lanes along southbound I-795 starting 9 p.m. Friday. The work has been postponed to May 2.  

Drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time on southbound I-795 between Owings Mills Boulevard and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and to consider alternate routes such as MD 140 (Reisterstown Road). Lanes will be closed even when workers are not present so the new concrete can be cured and tested. 

There will be no lane closures on northbound I-795 throughout the weekend.    

Southbound I-795 weekend lane closure schedule:   

  • ​9 p.m. Friday, May 2 - 12 p.m. Saturday, April 26: Double-lane closure   
  • 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday, May 3: Single-lane closure   
  • 9 p.m. Saturday - 12 p.m. Sunday, April 27: Double-lane closure   
  • 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday, May 4: Single-lane closure   
  • 9 p.m. Sunday - 5 a.m. Monday, May 5: Double-lane closure  

The weekend work to repair concrete pavement on southbound I-795 is part of the State Highway Administration’s $6.1 million areawide contract to improve safety and operations along State highways in Baltimore and Harford counties.  Because of inclement weather, the work was rescheduled to the weekend of May 2-4.   

Contractor, Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg, will use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists traveling within the I-795 work zone.  

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
