Bridge Closed for Safety Inspection After Vehicle Collision; Motorists Should Use an Alternate Route
(October 11, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is inspecting the
MD 28 (Dickerson Road) bridge over the Monocacy River, north of Doctor Belt Road, in Frederick County after a vehicle struck the bridge earlier this afternoon. Crews are onsite inspecting the bridge for structural damage. There is no immediate timeframe of reopening the bridge to traffic. Motorists should use I-270 as an alternate route.
The detour directs westbound motorists to Park Mills Road then MD 80 (Fingerboard Rd) to I-270 and then MD 109 to access MD 28. Eastbound drivers can take MD 109 to I-270, MD 80 and Park Mills Road.
