Drivers Can Expect Daytime Single-Lane Closures During the Project
(September 12, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to replace aging guardrail in Harford County beginning Monday, September 16. The project should be complete by early December, weather permitting.
The guardrail replacement project will take place in both directions of the US 1 Bypass between Tollgate Road and MD 147 (Harford Road) and MD 624 between MD 165 (Pylesville Road) and the Pennsylvania State line. Drivers can expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, L.S. Lee, Inc. of Hampstead, will guide motorists through the work zone using barrels and a flagging operation. Drivers are encouraged to add extra commuting time during work hours and slow down through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
