(January 18, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin another phase of drainage work at the MD 175 (Annapolis Road) / Parkside Boulevard intersection in Anne Arundel County on January 22. This phase of work is expected to last approximately one month, weather permitting.

Starting Monday, January 22, crews will begin underground pipe installation across the Parkside Boulevard approach to eastbound MD 175. This phase of work is expected to last approximately four weeks, weather permitting.

Part of this work will also require closure of the eastbound MD 175 shoulder and right turn lanes entering and exiting at Parkside Boulevard, along with the following temporary traffic changes:

• Daytime Access to Parkside Boulevard: Drivers will be able to enter and exit Parkside Boulevard at MD 175 throughout the day, including the morning and evening commute times. Drivers will be permitted to turn from the eastbound MD 175 through lane onto Parkside Boulevard, and westbound MD 175 left turns into Parkside Boulevard are permitted. Outbound Parkside Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane; all outbound drivers will use this lane to turn onto MD 175.
• Nighttime Closure of Parkside Boulevard: crews will close full access to Parkside Boulevard weeknights (Monday - Thursday) starting at 9 p.m. and reopen no later than 5 a.m. the following morning. Drivers will be directed to use Vanguard Road nightly to access MD 175.

State Highway Administration contractor R. E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of New Jersey will use portable variable message signs, barrier walls and barrels to guide drivers through the work zone. This work is part of the $77.4 million MD 175 / MD 295 interchange reconstruction project designed to enhance operations along the MD 175 corridor.
