Single Right Lane Closure to be in Effect Until Repair is Completed Next Week
(October 6, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has closed the right lane on eastbound I-70 at Crystal Falls Drive in Washington County for emergency pavement repairs. The repair is expected to be complete by the middle of next-week, weather permitting.
The asphalt in the right lane has become significantly damaged, necessitating the single-lane closure. The center and left lanes are open. The State Highway Administration is assembling equipment, contractor crews and materials and the actual repair should begin by Tuesday.
Drivers traveling eastbound on I-70 should plan extra commute time until the repair is complete and may consider alternate routes such as US 40 (National Pike). The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork will inconvenience travelers and asks all motorists to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone.
