Work Over Two Nights Requires Temporary Traffic Lane Shifts; Motorists Should Allow Extra Travel Time or Use Alternate Routes

(September 1, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will work Wednesday and Thursday nights, September 7-8, to install new signs and prepare for a temporarily traffic pattern shift at the I-95/I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) interchange in the Arbutus area of Baltimore County. The work is needed in advance of an upcoming project to improve pavement on 10 bridges at the interchange.

Overnight single- and double-lane closures will be required on southbound I-95 at I-695 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights into the next morning. The work schedule and lane closures are weather permitting.

MDOT SHA contractor Wagman Heavy Civil Inc., of York, Pa., will use digital message boards, temporary signs and barrels to direct drivers safely through the overnight work zone. Motorists should plan for extra drive time while this preliminary work is accomplished. More information on this project is available here

Customers who have questions about this work on I-95 and other state-maintained roads in Baltimore County may call the MDOT SHA District 4 Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
