Projects Improve Ride Quality; Drivers Should Plan Ahead for Single Lane Closures

(April 2, 2019) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is resurfacing several roads in northern Anne Arundel County. These projects will improve ride quality for thousands of motorists and will be complete early summer.

 

MDOT SHA will patch, mill, pave and restripe the following roads:

• MD 176 (Dorsey Road) between MD 170 (Telegraph Road) and MD 648 E (Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) in Hanover. This 3.6-mile section of MD 176 has an average daily traffic volume of 24,000 vehicles per day; and

• MD 103 (Parkway Drive South) between prior to Race Road and the Howard County line. This one-mile section of MD 103 has an average daily traffic volume of 9,200 vehicles daily.

Motorists can expect daytime single lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. MDOT SHA contractor Allan Myers, Inc., of Fallston, will use barrels, cones and a flagging operation (on MD 103) to guide motorists through the work zone.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
