What We Do

OTMO is committed to keeping Marylanders moving on the roadways through the expertise, hard work, and dedication of its multiple divisions and staff. Using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), and partnerships, we monitor traffic, clear incidents, assist stranded motorists on our highways, and provide real-time traveler information to our customers. We leverage emerging technologies and implement innovative strategies to update and maximize the use of our existing transportation infrastructure. We are also preparing for a connected and automated future using data and a performance-driven approach to plan and program ITS, telecommunications, and decision-support systems.

OTMO activities include incident response, emergency traffic patrols, road weather management, special event management, incident management, telecommunications, traffic monitoring, 24/7 traffic operations center, emergency operations, emerging transportation technologies, intelligent transportation systems, traffic management, work zone management and traveler information.
