Motorists Should Expect Daytime Lane Closures and Flagging Operations on MD 23 in northern Harford County

On Thursday, March 21, crews will begin a $318,000 pavement patching project on MD 23 between the Maryland/Pennsylvania state line and MD 136 (Harkins Road) in Norrisville. On Monday, March 25, crews will begin an $870,000 pavement patching, milling and resurfacing project on MD 23 from Old York Road in Jarrettsville to MD 146 (Madonna Road/Jarrettsville Pike) in Madonna.

Both segments of highway maintenance work on MD 23 should be complete by late June, weather permitting.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, motorists can expect temporary daytime lane closures with flagging operations weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. along MD 23 in Norrisville. On March 25, contractor crews will begin working the same hours with temporary lane closures and flagging operations on MD 23 in Madonna.

The paving work is part the State Highway Administration’s highway maintenance program to improve safety and ride quality of pavements on primary state highways within Baltimore and Harford counties. Contractor Allan Myers – MD, Inc. of Fallston will perform the paving work on both segments of MD 23.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.

Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
