Motorists Can Expect Nighttime Ramp Detours Beginning at 9 p.m.; Resurfacing Scheduled to Finish in Late June

(June 2, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration began a project this week to resurface the ramps at the interchange of MD 175 (Annapolis Road) and MD 32 in Anne Arundel County. The project will require ramps to be closed overnight – one at a time – and all work will be complete by late June, weather permitting.

Each evening, one ramp will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning, Sundays through Thursdays. No single ramp will be closed more than three nights, weather permitting, and a detour will be in place with temporary traffic signs and barrels guiding drivers through the detour.

Work began this week on the westbound MD 175 ramp to westbound MD 32.

The remaining interchange ramps include:

  • westbound MD 32 ramp to the eastbound and westbound MD 175 ramps;
  • eastbound MD 32 ramp to the eastbound and westbound MD 175 ramps;
  • the westbound MD 175 ramp to eastbound MD 32;
  • the eastbound MD 175 ramp to eastbound MD 32; and
  • the eastbound MD 175 ramp to westbound MD 32.

Portable variable message signs are in place advising motorists of the work. Contractor TeamCam Services, of Linthicum, is performing the project. Customers with questions about this work may contact the District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.

The State Highway Administration understands ramp closures and detours are inconvenient, but this work is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
