Motorists Can Expect Multiple Overnight Lane Closures
(January 31, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will conduct emergency bridge work on the
I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) bridges over Ritchie Marlboro Road near Largo beginning Monday, February 6, weather permitting. This work was postponed.
Motorists can expect possible triple-lane closures to enable crews to safely perform the emergency repairs. Only one direction of I-95/I-495 will be affected per night. All work will take place between the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and is expected to be completed by Thursday, February 9.
MDOT SHA will begin the repairs project on the inner loop (southbound) bridge at 9 p.m. on February 6 through 5 a.m. on February 7. Crews will then initiate repairs to the outer loop (northbound) bridge between February 8 and February 9. MDOT SHA understands the closures will inconvenience some travelers and asks all motorists to please be stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone.
MDOT SHA contractor Marksmen Company Inc. of Baltimore, will use roadway signs, cones, and barrels to alert motorists about lane closures and bridge work.
