Overnight Single-Lane Closures Through September Required Along One-Mile Stretch of Roadway
(August 11, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform overnight work beginning this Sunday, August 14, on a project to improve the driving surface and enhance safety on MD 97 (Old Washington Road) between Piney View Court and MD 26 (Liberty Road) in Eldersburg.
Starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, crews will close one lane of traffic for work and use a flagging operation on MD 97 to direct traffic. Overnight single-lane closures will be in effect 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings, through September, weather permitting.
During the project crews will remove the top layer, repair depressions to smooth out the surface and add a new layer of asphalt across one mile of roadway. Exit ramps at the MD 97 and MD 26 interchange will be closed only when crews are working in that specific area. During that time motorists will be detoured to Old Liberty Road.
MDOT SHA contractor C.J. Miller LLC, of Hampstead, will use signs, cones, electronic arrow boards and flaggers to alert and guide motorists through the work zone.
