Crews will Close Ramp to MD 80 Overnight Wednesday and Thursday; Motorists will be Detoured to MD 109

(Aug. 10, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will conduct overnight work over the next two nights, Wednesday and Thursday, August 10-11, to upgrade the guardrail on southbound I-270 along the exit ramp to MD 80 (Exit 26, Fingerboard Road) in Urbana, Frederick County.

Crews will work from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday night through Friday morning. Crews will remove the old guardrail and install a new one to enhance safety for motorists who use the exit ramp. During the overnight work, Exit 26 to MD 80 will be closed, and a detour will direct motorists to MD 109 (Exit 22, Old Hundred Road) and onto northbound I-270.

MDOT SHA will place electronic signs, road signs, cones, and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and guide them through the detour.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
