Overnight Project Includes Patching and Installation of New Driving Surface

(April 27, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a road improvement project Sunday, May 1, on MD 27 (Ridge Road) in Mount Airy, Carroll County.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, crews will patch the roadway between Watersville Road and Gillis Falls Road. Work will continue overnight, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. The work is expected to be completed in June.

The work will require a flagging operation. The contractor, C.J. Miller Inc., based in Hampstead, will use signs, cones, electronic arrow boards and a truck mounted attenuator to alert and guide motorists through the work zone and promote safe operations.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.

Governor Larry Hogan has declared April as Work Zone Safety Month in Maryland. For more information on Work Zone Safety, visit roads.maryland.gov and click on the work zone safety banner. Also follow MDOT SHA on Twitter @MDSHA and on Facebook at facebook.com/MDOTSHA
