Crews Will Close a Single Left Lane on Northbound and Southbound US 1

(February 28, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will activate a new traffic signal at US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) and College Avenue/Regents Drive in Prince George’s County on Wednesday, March 2. Crews will begin work at 9 a.m. and the new traffic signal will be fully operational by 4 p.m.

During the signal activation Wednesday, the left lane for northbound and southbound US 1 will be closed. Maryland State Police will be onsite to help maintain traffic. Traffic headed eastbound on Regents Drive and westbound on College Avenue will only be able to make right turns onto US 1.

This work is part of the US 1 from College Avenue to MD 193 (University Boulevard) construction project, which is expected to be completed by late summer 2023.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
