Daytime Work Includes Moving Traffic to Newly Constructed Travel Lanes

(January 31, 2022) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will shift traffic on northbound and southbound MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) in Howard County between Linden Church Road and just south of the Burntwoods Road during daytime work hours tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1. The work is part of the $127 million MD 32 Phase II widening project that began in 2019 and is expected to be complete this summer.

Starting 9 a.m. Tuesday, crews will move traffic in both directions of MD 32 to the west by two travel lanes. The operation will transition traffic onto the newly constructed travel lanes to allow crews to work on drainage improvements and paving on the existing travel lanes.

The traffic shift will be complete by 3 p.m. Tuesday and will not require road or lane closures.

The overall MD 32 Phase II widening project will result in an additional travel lane in both directions of MD 32 between Linden Church Road and the I-70 ramps.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for Maryland State Police and roadside assistance.
