MD 648

Crews Will Work Between I-97 and MD 3 Through Mid-December

(December 3, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project Tuesday, December 7, to resurface a section of MD 648 (Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) in the Glen Burnie area of Anne Arundel County. Crews will work weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. along MD 648 between I-97 and MD 3 (Crain Highway). The work is expected to be completed mid-December.

MDOT SHA contractor Reliable Contracting Inc. has also been permitted to resurface the MD 648 ramps at I-97. That work will take place overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays. Traffic will be guided using a signed detour and a flagging operation. Advanced signage will be placed to guide drivers as work is scheduled.

Customers who have questions about this work and state-numbered routes in Anne Arundel County may contact the MDOT SHA District 5 at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
