Early Morning Lane Closures and Intermittent Traffic Stops Required Sunday, November 21, on I-795 near Franklin Boulevard

(November 19, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will work with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) on lane closures and brief traffic stops in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 21, as the utility completes work across I-795 (Northwest Expressway) in Baltimore County.

BGE crews will pull a neutral electric service wire across all lanes of I-795 in the vicinity of the Franklin Boulevard interchange. The work will require temporary single- and double-lane closures – as well as intermittent traffic stops on all lanes of northbound and southbound I-795 at any time between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday.

Once the BGE crew is ready for the wire pull, Maryland State Police will slow, then stop all traffic on I-795 in both directions for up to 15 minutes.

Motorists who plan to travel northbound or southbound I-795 between Owings Mills and Historic Reisterstown early Sunday morning should plan for extra travel time, or use MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) as an alternate route.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
