Overnight Work to Include Upgrades to Sidewalk, Signal, Driveway Ramps

(November 3, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin work next week to improve safety and operations at the intersection of MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) and Woodholme Avenue/ Hooks Lane in the Pikesville area of Baltimore County.

Beginning Sunday night, November 7, crews will work overnight to upgrade concrete sidewalk and driveway ramps; upgrade traffic signal equipment, resurface pavement, widen the end of Hooks Lane to add a left turn lane to MD 140 and install new reflective pavement markings at the intersection. Work on the $670,000 project will be performed nightly, Sundays through Thursdays, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, and will continue through late fall into early winter next year, weather permitting.

Contractor crews will work with temporary single lane closures in effect along MD 140 between the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) interchange and north of Woodholme Avenue/ Hooks Lane. When necessary, one lane of the ramp from westbound I-695 (Beltway Outer Loop) to MD 140 may be temporarily closed during overnight hours.

MDOT SHA and its contractor for the project, Concrete General Inc. of Gaithersburg, will use electronic signs, reflective barrels and cones to alert motorists of the work zone and lane closures.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
