Daytime Work will Patch Potholes and Resurface Nearly Five Miles of Roadway

(September 16, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform work to improve the roadway surface on a portion of MD 26 (Liberty Road) in Frederick County beginning Monday, September 20. Over the course of the work, crews will patch potholes and resurface the roadway in both directions of MD 26 between MD 194 (Woodsboro Pike) and Chestnut Grove Road, a span of nearly five miles.

Crews will work 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the possibility of some Saturday work as needed. Single-lane closures will be required during daytime work hours. This project, near the Walkersville area in Frederick County, is expected to be complete in November, weather permitting.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, C.J. Miller, LLC, will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and lane closures.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
