(June 7, 2021) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will be working overnight tonight to repair the York Road (MD 45) ramp to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in the Towson area of Baltimore County. Starting at 7 p.m. tonight, June 7, crews will begin replacing a section of broken drainage pipe underneath the northbound MD 45 ramp to eastbound I-695 (Inner Loop). The ramp will be closed to traffic until the work is complete Tuesday.

Once the closure goes in effect tonight, motorists will be detoured as follows:

Motorists on northbound York Road will be directed to:

  1. turn left onto West Road and then
  2. turn right from West Road onto the other interchange ramp to eastbound I-695.

Motorists traveling on northbound and southbound York Road in the vicinity of the I-695 interchange and West Road on Tuesday morning should plan for extra travel time.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
