(March 8, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) began improving the road surface of MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) in Frederick County this morning. Weekdays, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., crews will be milling and patching the roadway between US 340 and the MD 17 (Burkittsville Road) roundabout. Saturday work is also possible. The $660,000 project is expected to be complete by May.

Motorists can expect single lane closures on MD 180 so crews can safely complete the project. MDOT SHA’s contractor, C.J. Miller, LLC, will use a flagging operation, cones and signs to alert motorists and guide them through the work zone.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.  Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
